Project Management KPIs provide information to your organization about the health of your IT projects. Metricus is not a project management tool that will tell you how to do project management, it will give you clarity though over the strenght of your process and if your projects management principles are resulting in projects that are delivered in time and budget.

Metricus uses Microsoft's Business Intelligence suite (leader in Gartner's Magic Quadrant) to provide you with robust and highly effective performance management capabilities. The Project Management Module includes template Scorecards, Dashboards and reports that can be customized to address your needs. Templates form a starting point that you can use as a basis to come up with the reporting and presentation format relevant to you.

The purpose of a Scorecard is to tell you at any point in time how you are performing against a set target. Scorecards will tell you if you are on-track and if the trend is going the right direction. Color coded icons visualize this information allowing you to see in one glance how your IT projects are performing.

This image above provides an example of a Project Management Scorecard Template. This template includes all the PO10 KPIs, probably more than you need. Select the ones you need and simply park the ones you do not require now, but might want to use later. The Scorecard provides visual and point-in-time information. It provides information on your current performance against stated performance targets. Colored indicators inform a project or portfolio manager if all current projects are going to be delivered as per expectations. Arrows show if the trend is positive, neutral or negative.

The Metricus Project Management Module includes templates for static as well as dynamic reports. Static reports provide tables and graphs that are used for monthly IT performance meetings. Dynamic reports are used on a daily basis and allow you to analyze information in various ways and from different angles. Dynamic reports include dynamic charts, pivot tables, six sigma charts as well as decomposition trees

The image provides an example of static Metricus Report. This example shows the 10 worst performing KPIs in the organization. Program Managers can select metrics per project and use this functionality to create a report that shows the ten worst performing or best performing projects. The knowledge about the performance of projects ensures that stakeholders can take adequate decisions to ensure business goals are not jeopardized.

Project Management KPIs require data that not always is stored within database driven systems and tools. Typically this type of data resides with project managers who use Excel or similar tools. Metricus provides toolkits and guidance to help you collect data from Excel or other tools and transform this data into Metricus.

Metricus provides predefined templates (Excel) that are called 'Easy Data Templates (r)'. These templates indicate the fields and columns required for populating selected KPIs. Project Managers simply populate this template on a weekly or monthly basis and push this spreadsheet to Metricus. Metricus transforms data into decision making information.
