Trends in IT Performance Management 2009 First Survey Results

Over 160 people participated in the second edition of a global survey on the current state of the industry with respect to IT performance management. The initial results indicate a, not surprising, clear focus in 2009 towards a better understanding of IT performance with the purpose to control costs.

Some of key results include:

  1. 2009 shows a clear trend towards cost-control. Reduction of cost is the single most important driver for IT performance management this year
  2. Manual reporting using Excel is still the biggest used method to do performance reporting and actually the trends towards Excel is increasing at the cost of relying on IT service management tools to do this job
  3. Current maturity in organizations is at level 2 (0-4 scale), which indicates that measures are being adopted, but not used or communicated very well
  4. The biggest challenge that organizations face in reporting on IT performance is in the collection of data

Here are some of the key graphs and results for the 2009 survey. Please complete the form here if you would like to recieve the full 2009 report once published.
