Effective Project Management guarantees meeting the requirements of IT projects within the allocated resources – time and budget. The techniques and methods of Project Management ensure that risks are handled properly and that IT and business goals are aligned. Metricus is not a Project Management tool that will tell you how to do Project Management; however, it will give you clarity on the strength of your process and if your Project Management principles are resulting in projects that are delivered in time and within budget.

Project Management Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) provide information to your organization about the health of your IT projects. Here are some examples of the Project-Management-related metrics

  • Percentage of Projects Championed by Business - the percentage of IT projects initiated by the business and having funding and full support from the business.
  • Percentage of Projects Completed on Time - the percentage of projects that were completed before the target completion date.
  • Percentage of Projects Completed with Documentation and Testing Plans - the percentage of projects completed that contain sufficient documentation in terms of architecture, training, support, testing plans, and so on.
  • Percentage of Projects Completed Within Budget - the percentage of projects that were completed and that had total actual costs less than budgeted costs.
  • Percentage of Projects Completed with Milestones Missed - the percentage of projects open at a point in time where one or more milestones associated with the project have not been met.
  • Percentage of Projects Meeting Stakeholders´ Expectations - the percentage of projects implemented that meet the expectations of the stakeholders involved in initiating the project.
  • Projects Created - the number of projects created during a given time frame.
  • Percentage of Projects Related to IT - the percentage of projects created that were specifically related to IT strategic, tactical, or operational objectives.
